Frequently Asked Questions
How big will the groups be?
Our groups are designed for small numbers of like-minded people. Many will be coming as individuals and accommodation is based on twin sharing. In some instances single supplement accommodation is available.
Are these tours safe?
Safety is a priority and we always follow Foreign and Commonwealth Office travel advice. All our destinations are checked in advance and we work with reputable agents. Most tours are escorted by one of our UK tour managers. There are inherent risks when dealing with horses and we strongly advise that hard hats are worn when riding.
What financial security is there when booking a tour?
In compliance with the UK Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tour Regulations 1992 Have Horse Will Travel has an insurance policy with Travel and General Insurance Plc to protect the monies paid in respect of the travel arrangements offered and to cater, where necessary (and subject to the terms of the insurance policy), for a refund of such monies and/or your repatriation to the UK in the unlikely event of our financial failure. So your money is completely secure.
Do I need to have travel insurance?
Yes. Travel insurance is mandatory for anyone taking part in our tours. You must check that your insurance covers you for the type of tour/riding activity that you are going to participate in. We will require written details of appropriate insurance cover otherwise we reserve the right to cancel your tour. We can offer you insurance through our own insurers.
Do your tours include flights?
No. Flights are generally not included but we can help check the availability and the cost and purchase your tickets using our ATOL.
What about visas and passports and health?
A full passport valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of your return travel is essential for all the tours (except UK based tours). It is important that you obtain a visa for certain countries prior to travel. We will advise whether this is necessary.
Health: You should consult your doctor before departure regarding health precautions recommended for travel to your destination. Most medical experts will advise precautions against tetanus, hepatitis, typhoid and polio. Malarial protection is strongly advised when travelling to certain parts of Africa and Asia. Full information for health requirements for travellers is available from the Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad who can be reached on 0891 224 100 or by visiting www.masta.org
If you are a UK resident you are entitled to free, or reduced cost, state provided healthcare when visiting a European Union (EU) country and Iceland. However to be covered you will need to take a new completed E111 form with you, which you can get, free of charge, from your nearest post office. Please note this does not include cancellation, theft or damage insurance.
What is included in the price of the tours?
Each programme will list what is included. However, as a general rule our prices are per person and based on two people sharing on full board basis except where indicated. Drinks and tips are not included. Transport to and from the meeting point and any flights needed are not included.
How do I book a tour?
To book a tour you first need to contact us to check availability. This can be done by ringing us (01303 862996) or by contacting us here. When we have confirmed the dates and price of the holiday with you, we will hold a provisional booking for you for 10 days. In this time you need to complete and sign a booking form and riding questionnaire and return them to us along with the deposit - the deposit is normally 20% of the holiday cost but can vary and will be specified for each tour.
We will confirm this to you at the time of booking. If you are booking less than 8 weeks before departure, the full amount is due. Once we have received your completed booking form and deposit, we will issue you a confirmation invoice. Any outstanding balance on this invoice will be due for payment no later than 8 weeks before departure.
